Most Poor at Risk of Worst Diabetes

The most poor people in the UK are over twice as likely to have diabetes at any age than the average person, the charity Diabetes UK has warned.

In addition, diabetics living in the most deprived homes are twice as likely to develop problems, Diabetes UK stated.

No exercise, obesity, smoking and a poor diet are responsible for this.

A public health expert asserted that attempts to prevent and treat the disease ought to be aimed at the most vulnerable.

Since 2008 2.5 million people have been diagnosed with diabetes in the UK.

Numbers have increased steadily in recent years as a result of efforts by those who were unaware they had the condition becoming aware.

The NHS must make sure that effective, high quality care is available throughout the country and that everyone, irregardless of socioeconomic status, is accessing it
