Should you be travelling and are diabetic, ensure that you pack multiple pairs of comfortable, closed-toe shoes and lots of clean socks .
Should you be able to change shoes and socks often you can minimise blisters on your feet and soreness should you be doing a great deal of walking.
You can even buy special diabetic socks, like DiaSox, which are designed to keep feet cool, dry and ensure good blood flow.
You need to make sure that you always carry or wear medical identification which indicates that you have diabetes .
Eat lots of greens instead of piling on the white refined carbs . And wherever possible opt for wholegrains .
Diabietics need to keep an eye on carbohydrate content of food.
However, do not overdo the protein found in red meat as that could lead to heart disease . Make leaner meat choices, like chicken or fish.
Go for soya as that reduces the risk of heart failure. There are lots of meatless meat alternatives out there, ranging from the Linda Mc Cartney range of vegetarian options, Quorn, through to the Vegi Eat. Each supermarket has its own vegetarian section.
You can also get packet mixes for veggie burgers and sausages which you make yourself,
Try to opt for fruit instead of those sugary desserts.
Relax and consciousness chew your food. Try to socialise when you are eating as it is more enjoyable and it takes longer to eat.
This way you also eat fewer calories .
Take your time and socialize while you are eating. It removes the focus from the food and allows you to get fuller faster and consume fewer calories.
Ensure you drink water if you have gone on a long walk or undertaken some other type of exercise .
