Moderate weight loss has a huge impact on health so say Australian scientists.
The scientists have shown that individuals who are obese can prevent and even reverse the impact of type 2 diabetes by losing just six kilograms which equates to 13.2 lbs.
The study was led by Katherine Samaras, Associate Professor of Medicine at Sydney's Garvan Institute of Medical Research.
The medical profession has known of and warned patients about the correlation between obesity and diabetes.
There is a connection between obesity and diabetes due to the excess body fat triggering pro-inflammatory immune cell production.
This, in turn, hardens arteries and causes type 2 diabetes.
Scientists claim that moderate weight loss can reduce the production of the attacking immune cells to the same level as in slim people.
