A new volcanic cloud expected over the UK has caused some uncertainty for passengers especially those with diabetes, expecting to fly in or out of Bristol airport today.
Southern airports have not been the all clear for flights.
However, Scottish airports are expected to resume flights today and certain airspace in England is expected to be reopened by late afternoon.
The air traffic control company NATS warned that the Eyjafjoll volcano is spewing out a huge new cloud of ash into the air.
This of course emphasises the "dynamic and rapidly changing conditions" NATS faces when attempting to decide when it may be safe to fly.
NATS said it is making two further reassessments of the situation today.
Yesterday afternoon Bristol Airport was hoping to return to normal. However, last night's announcement by NATS has thrown its plans to reopen today into disarray.
It is imperative that passengers contact their airlines regarding information for particular flights.
Once flights resume, it will still take a considerable period of time to clear the backlog of passengers wishing to get home .
