University of London researchers have discovered early warning signs of Type 2 diabetes in the blood of British Asian children .
Thesse findings are important given the increasing incidence of Type 2 diabetes worldwide.
Tests have shown that South Asian and African Caribbean children tested had high levels of some blood markers, signs whereby you can go on to develop Type 2 diabetes from. The difference is small.
About three million diabetics in the UK presently.
South Asian people in the UK are around three times more likely to develop Type 2 diabetes than white Europeans.
Research leader, Peter Wincup states that being more regular exercise, eating healthily and not getting overweight all help to lower long-term risks of Type 2 diabetes .
Further research needs to be undertaken in to this area.
Any such measure will need to be culturally sensitive, tailored and introduced in a way that helps curb an increasing public health problem.
