Diabetes Facts and Fiction

Mon, 14 Jun 2010
There are many fictitious considerations made where diabetes is concerned.

Firstly, lots of people think that eating a great deal of sugar can cause diabetes . This is not the case.

Diabetes occurs due to a combination of environmental and factors. A diet which is high in fat and sugar can make you overweight which increases the likelihood of your developing diabetes .

Diabetics benefit from food and drink which has been labelled as "suitable for diabetics" .

On the contrary such foods provide additional nutritional value and are often more expensive than other food or drink.

Diabetics, just like the rest of us, need to maintain a healthy, balanced diet, one that is low in fat, salt and sugar.

Type 2 diabetes is a mild type of diabetes. There is nothing which is a mild type of diabetes.

All types of diabetes are equally serious, and, should it not be managed and treated properly, can lead to serious complications.
