A Canadian Diabetes Association survey shows that there is a diabetes epidemic in Canada.
This epidemic threatens the health of families, as well as the healthcare system and the economy itself.
The survey highlights that 41 per cent of respondents consider their own children to be susceptible of developing type 2 diabetes now or later when born.
Moreover, nearly 90 per cent of respondents stated that they think that diabetes is going to seriously affect the future of the Canadian healthcare system, with 62 per cent indicating that they believe that diabetes is adversely affecting hurting the Canadian economy.
The report findings confirm that Canadians are not adequately prepared to manage the diabetes epidemic that is growing day by day.
Canadians not only recognise that diabetes is huge and can harm future generations. They also consider that government is not taking adequate steps to reduce the impact of the epidemic on individuals, the healthcare system and the economy itself.
