Hot Dog Intake Related to Very High Risk of Developing Diabetes

Recent research has linked hot dogs to an exceedingly high risk of becoming diabetic.

It is of course not surprising that hot dogs and cold cuts of meat are not healthy foods, however, brand new research highlights exactly how bad processed meats actually are for you.

A recent study from Harvard School of Public Health reported that processed meats have a "shockingly high" relation to type 2 diabetes.

50 grams of processed meat is equivalent to two slices of cold cuts or a hot dog; it can heighten the likelihood of your developing the disease by 50 percent, so say researchers.

This is the case for those who are fat or thin, the head Harvard researcher has stated.

The research which has been published online in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition is based on data from three massive American studies involving more than 200,000 adults, some of whom have been monitored for almost 30 years.

It is healthier to replace a daily serving of red meat with a serving of nuts. This reduces your likelihood of developing diabetes by 21 percent. You can lower your chances of developing diabetes by 23 per cent by switching to whole grains and by 17 per cent by swapping to low-fat dairy.
