How to Mangage Pre Diabetes More Effectively

Tue, 16 Aug 2011
Diabetes occurs when the pancreas produces insufficient insulin, or when the body’s reaction to insulin is inadequate, called insulin resistance.

There are 24 million diabetics in the USA alone, with approximately 6 million not having any idea that they are diabetic .

There are also 57 million Americans who have pre-diabetes, whereby your blood glucose levels get higher than the normal.

The majority of those who have pre-diabetes go on to develop diabetes, around 11 percent in three years and more than 50 per cent within 10 years.

There are new set guidelines for treatment of pre-diabetes prior to it developing into diabetes. Pre diabetics need lifestyle changes, that includes, healthy eating, exercise and effective diets.

A recent research study highlighted that pre-diabetics who lost 10 percent of their weight and undertook frequent exercise were 71 percent more likely to prevent or at least delay the onset of diabetes. Pre-diabetics ought not to smoke and keep alcohol consumption to a minimum, if any.
