Organised Exercise Routine Best for Diabetics

Diabetics get the maximum benefit when they exercise at least two and a half hours on a weekly basis within the construct of an organised fitness or exercise programme specific to their needs.

Diabetes and pre-diabetes account for around ten per cent of total health care spending by the end of the decade at an annual cost of around $500 billion, up from around $194 billion forecast for 2011.

The alarming forecast is for a third of American adults could have diabetes by 2050 should Americans carry on gaining weight and avoiding exercise.

The study involved the analysis of data from 47 clinical trials, involving 8,000 patients, and considered the best way for diabetics to control their blood sugar levels .

Diabetics who took part in a supervised exercise programme for two and a half hours a week found that their blood sugar dropped than just being recommended to exercise.
